Olivastra Seggianese Olive Oil

In a harmonious blend of nature, tradition, and innovation, the village of Seggiano reveals its multifaceted charm. Nestled amid the hills that bid farewell to the last lands of Val d’Orcia, Seggiano gazes upon the olive tree-crowned landscape. Here, a road winds through the extraordinary Olive Valley.
The pride of the village lies in the “Olivastra Seggianese,” an indigenous cultivar that yields precious Seggiano DOP extra virgin olive oil. Two notable projects celebrate this local treasure: the Olive Oil Museum narrates its history and traditions within the village, while an aeroponic system nourishes the suspended roots of the oldest Olivastra specimen—an olive tree known as the “Olivo nel Cisternone.”
Beyond the village center, a verdant dome stands out: the Sanctuary of Madonna della Carità, a late-sixteenth-century masterpiece atop Mount Amiata, built in response to a devastating famine.
Not far away, the Garden of Daniel Spoerri hosts 112 contemporary artworks scattered throughout a wooded area, inviting visitors on a delightful treasure hunt.
